Hi, I’m Rich Carr from Meadia Heights Golf Club in Lancaster, PA on behalf of Expert Village. I’m going to talk today a little bit about what to do if your partner loses his golf ball or how to help him find it. Looks as though my partner has hit the ball into the woods. He is going to re-tee the ball and hit a provisional just in case we can’t find the first one that he hit into the woods. This is a very important part of etiquette, not only will you help speed up play, but you’ll also be doing your partner a favor by helping him try to locate his ball. As you can see my playing partner has lost his ball on this hole and in the game of golf it is good etiquette or customary to help him find his ball. So we’re going to look around here a little bit and we’re only going to take 5 minutes to do so in trying to find it. That is not only a guideline, but a rule of the USGA. So we’re going to look around here and see if we can find his ball. This it? That’s it. Excellent, he’s found his ball, he now can go ahead and play his second shot and we’ve helped speed up the pace of play. |
